In this exercise, we were to create grid layouts with information from an exhibit at the Sheldon Art Museum. Each of the 5 final layouts grew off of each other through being able to use different font sixes, colors, typefaces, images, etc.. 
In my first layout, I decided to have the title and subtitle be the highest on the grid, and made the title “Barriers and Disparities” bold to make it stand out against the rest of the info in the page. I also then made the information about admission and where the exhibit is on the bottom to separate the text and make the readers eye move, instead of constantly reading the text down. The type used in this layout is Univers. It is a sans-serif neo grotesque typeface created by Adrian Frutiger in 1957. I also decided to include a photo I took from the exhibit to fill some of the white space. For line spacing, I made bigger gaps of space between different sections of information to make it easier to decipher one fact from the next. ​​​​​​​
 In the second layout, I used Univers again throughout all of the wording. I decided to make the title and sub title bold to make it stand out, but also decided to make the title red to draw the viewer’s attention to that first before the other information. I made the timeframe of the exhibit on the left bottom corner y-axis because it once again makes the viewer move their eye to follow the info, but also creates a nice visual contrast and interest to the reader. For the body of text in the description, I decided to create a diagonal line to break the text up and create variety. I also made the line spacing within the description wider than in the rest of the layout to break the information up so it is easier to read, and kept the spacing between the location facts closer to keep the information together more.
In my third layout, I once again used Univers for the typeface in all of the letterforms. I continued to keep the title and subtitle bold, but instead made the title just an outline, and the sub title in red to have it pop out to the viewer more, while still keeping these two sections separate. I wanted to have the subtitle in between the line spacing of the outlined title for visual contrast. I separated the location facts into three sections on the top of the grid and the admission below the titles so that it can stand out to the viewer. I continued to keep the description with the diagonal line, but a little bit more steep in this layout, with the dates on that same angle to connect the information.
In the fourth layout, I combined Clarendon, which is a slab serif by Robert Besley in 1845, for the name of the exhibit, and Futura, a geometric sans-serif created by Paul Renner in 1927. The body texts are in a grey color to make it not as hard on the readers eye, while bringing the attention to the title, which is in black and red. The admission text is a red color, but at a lower opacity so it can lay over the body text without taking away from the information that is being shown. I also have the line spacing between the facts in the top middle fairly large so you can read all of that information easily, whereas the title has less space in between the lines so it is more together.
In my last layout, I used Bodoni, a modern typeface by Giambattista Bodoni in the titles and Helvetica, a neo grotesque sans-serif by Max Miedinger, for the rest of the information. After seeing the exhibit and how they used Helvetica in their type, I wanted to incorporate this into the layout with a photo to represent that in a way. I also decided to make the font color gray for this reason in some of the letterforms. I also increased the line spacing in the description below the photo of a painting from the exhibit to make it easier for the viewer to read since the font is a lighter color, compared to those in my earlier layouts. I made the title and admission type a light red/coral color to make it less harsh on the viewers eyes, while also creating a visual contrast between pieces of information.
